One Second Flat
[Verse 1]
It don’t come easy, letting someone in
You hold your cards, you guard your skin
It’s slow nights and deeper talks
A thousand steps just to drop your guard
[Verse 2]
But all it takes is one wrong word
One hidden truth you never heard
[Chorus]
It takes years to build that trust
One second flat to watch it fall
A slow rise turning into dust
When love don’t mean much at all
And God, it hurts when someone you love
Turns their back, like push to shove
It takes time to trust like that
But it all breaks down… one second flat
[Verse 3]
I gave my heart, I meant my vows
Never thought I’d be here now
Staring at a door half-closed
With nothing left but what I know
[Verse 4]
You can’t unsay what’s been said
And it cuts deeper when you meant it
[Chorus]
It takes years to build that trust
One second flat to watch it fall
A slow rise turning into dust
When love don’t mean much at all
And God, it hurts when someone you love
Turns their back, like push to shove
It takes time to trust like that
But it all breaks down… one second flat
[Bridge]
If you’ve ever felt that cold, hard snap
The weight of knowing you won’t get it back
You know why I sing it now
It’s the cruelest kind of vow
[Chorus]
It takes years to build that trust
One second flat to watch it fall
A slow rise turning into dust
When love don’t mean much at all
And there’s nothing colder than that
When someone you love don’t love you back
It takes time to trust like that
But it all breaks down…
One second flat

One Second Flat
I wrote One Second Flat because of something that happened in a relationship where I genuinely gave someone my whole heart. From the beginning, honesty was the foundation we agreed on — no secrets, no games, total transparency. And for years, I believed we had that. I trusted her completely. I trusted every word, every promise, every late-night conversation where she swore she’d always be honest with me.
Then one day, everything changed. One lie — one moment of truth that didn’t match what she had told me — and it was like the entire relationship shifted in an instant. It wasn’t the mistake itself that cut the deepest… it was realizing that the trust I thought was unbreakable had a crack running through it the whole time.
That kind of moment stays with you. It doesn’t just hurt — it rewrites the past, it shakes the future you thought you were building, and it forces you to see the person you love in a different light. The slow climb of trust disappears, and you’re left standing in the wreckage of something you thought was solid.
One Second Flat came from that heartbreak… from that awful realization that it doesn’t take months or years to lose someone’s trust — sometimes it only takes one second.
And when the person you love lies to you, even once, something inside you changes forever.
