Lyrics
Confused in the Dark
[Verse 1]
I told the world who I am, but the mirror won’t agree,
Living in between the lines of what love’s supposed to be.
I crave the warmth I see in her body’s silhouette,
But the face that haunts my dreams is a man I never met.
[Pre-Chorus]
Two different fires burning in me,
One for the heart, one physically.
I’m caught in a war I can’t explain,
Every truth just sounds like shame.
[Chorus]
I’m gay, but I’m broken by desire,
Chasing what my body requires.
Hearts don’t line with anatomy,
And I don’t know who I’m supposed to be.
I’m lost, I’m torn apart,
Confused in the dark.
[Verse 2]
Every touch feels right and wrong, depending who it’s from,
My soul wants one, my skin wants another, I’m always torn.
I can’t confess it out loud, they’d never understand,
How do you hold a truth that slips through your own hands?
[Pre-Chorus]
Two different roads, no way to choose,
Whichever I take, I’m bound to lose.
Love’s a puzzle with missing parts,
And I’m bleeding through the scars.
[Chorus]
I’m gay, but I’m broken by desire,
Chasing what my body requires.
Hearts don’t line with anatomy,
And I don’t know who I’m supposed to be.
I’m lost, I’m torn apart,
Confused in the dark.
[Bridge]
If love is love, then why’s mine so cruel?
I’m drowning in a truth I can’t use.
No one to hold, no safe place to fall,
I’m halfway to nowhere at all.
[Outro]
I’m gay, but I’m broken by desire,
A fire with no one to inspire.
Hearts don’t line with anatomy,
I’ll never know who I’m meant to be.
So I’ll stay in the shadows of my heart,
Confused in the dark.

Confused in the Dark
I wrote “Confused in the Dark” about a close friend who was deeply lost in his own struggle — torn between who he was, who he loved, and who he thought he was supposed to be. I watched him fight himself in silence, ashamed of feelings he couldn’t change and terrified of what they meant.
This song came from a place of pure empathy. It’s not about labels or sides — it’s about the pain of hiding your truth and the courage it takes to face it. I wrote it hoping that anyone who’s ever felt alone in their confusion might feel seen, understood, and loved exactly as they are.
