If You Knew
[Verse 1]
I pick you up, we ride around
Talk about everything but what’s on my mind now
You laugh too hard, I play it cool
But my hands shake when I look at you
[Pre-Chorus]
Every little glance feels louder these days
Like I’m one wrong word from giving it away
I tell myself, “Don’t ruin this…”
But what if this is the moment I’ll miss?
‘Cause you don’t know, and I don’t show
But it’s getting harder not to let it go…
[Chorus]
If you knew…
Would you pull me closer… or pull away too?
Would we lose all the things that we’ve always been
Or would you look at me like more than a friend?
Yeah, if you knew…
Would I still get to laugh with you?
Or would it all come undone…
If you knew…
[Verse 2]
We talk about love like it’s somewhere else
While I’m sittin’ here trying to save myself
From blurting it out like I accidentally might
When you lean on my shoulder at the red light
[Pre-Chorus]
Every little smile, every little touch
Feels like a line I wanna cross too much
But what if I do… and it all breaks?
Could I really watch us slip away?
You don’t see… what you do to me
And every day’s a fight to let it be…
[Chorus]
If you knew…
Would you pull me closer… or pull away too?
Would we lose all the things that we’ve always been
Or would you look at me like more than a friend?
Yeah, if you knew…
Would I still get to laugh with you?
Or would it all come undone…
If you knew…
[Bridge]
Maybe you feel it…
Maybe you don’t…
But God, if I never say it…
I’ll never know…
[Chorus]
If you knew…
Would you pull me closer… or pull away too?
I don’t wanna lose the best thing I’ve ever had…
But what if the truth could be better than that?
Yeah, if you knew…
Would we risk it… me and you?
Or would it all come undone…
If you knew…
[Outro]
Yeah… if you knew…
If you knew…

If You Knew
This one grew out of a stretch of my life where I was spending a lot of time with someone I cared about way more than I should’ve. We weren’t dating — not even close — but there was this quiet electricity between us that never quite went away. Every drive, every late-night conversation, every laugh that lingered just a little too long… it all felt like standing on the edge of something neither of us was brave enough to name.
I caught myself reading into the smallest things — the way she touched my arm when she talked, the way she leaned in when she laughed, the way she’d look at me like she wasn’t even aware she was doing it. And I’d go home replaying every moment, wondering if she felt any of it too… or if it was just me falling in slow motion.
But there’s a fear that comes with wanting someone who’s already woven into your life:
one confession could turn something beautiful into something broken.
“If You Knew” came from living in that tension — wanting to tell her, wanting to risk it, and at the same time terrified of losing the one thing that felt steady and familiar. It’s that quiet ache of sitting inches away from someone and knowing they’ll never understand what they’re doing to you… unless you say it out loud.
The whole song is the question I never asked her:
If you knew how deeply I felt… would I still get to keep you in my world?
Because sometimes the scariest part of love isn’t rejection —
it’s the possibility that speaking the truth could cost you the person entirely.
That’s the heartbeat behind this one.

Combined Backstory for “If You Knew” & “Can’t Risk Losing You” (Two Chapters, One Story):
There was someone in my life who started out as just a friend —
the kind of friend you can talk to for hours without even realizing time passed.
Somewhere along the line, the way I felt about her shifted.
Not dramatically, not all at once —
just slowly, quietly, in all the small moments that don’t look like falling in love until you’re already in it.
“If You Knew” came from that stage where you’re carrying a secret you’re terrified to say out loud.
That ache of wondering:
If I told you what I feel… would it ruin everything?
Would we lose the friendship we built?
Or is there a chance you feel it too?
It’s the fragile hope before the leap.
The hesitation.
The thousand unsaid words stuck behind a single breath.
