Mama's Sorry
[Verse 1]
Hey my babies, it’s your mama here, I know I left, but I’m still so near. I see you now with your tangled hair, Tucked in bed, sayin’ your prayers.
[Verse 2]
I should’ve been there to hold you tight, Kiss your heads, sing songs at night. But the demons came, they pulled me down, And I let go when I should’ve held on.
[Chorus]
Mama’s sorry, I was weak, Chased a high I couldn’t beat. Left you two in a world so cold, Without my arms to break your falls. But I love you, I always do, And I’m watchin’ over you.
[Verse 3]
I see your tears, I hear you call, “Why’d she leave us, did she love us at all?” Oh, my sweet girls, if only you knew, The fight I fought was never ’bout you.
[Verse 4]
It wasn’t your fault, it never was, I was too lost to see what I’d done. But if I could hold you, I’d tell you now, You were the best thing I ever found.
[Chorus]
Mama’s sorry, I was weak, Chased a high I couldn’t beat. Left you two in a world so cold, Without my arms to break your falls. But I love you, I always do, And I’m watchin’ over you.
[Bridge]
Don’t grow up thinkin’ love’s not real, Don’t let my ghost teach you how to feel. Find the light, don’t chase the dark, Stay strong, my girls, protect your hearts.
[Outro]
Mama’s sorry, I was weak, But I pray you stand, I pray you dream. Let the world see how bright you shine, Don’t let my past be what defines The beautiful souls you were meant to be, Oh, my darlings, be free…
I love you, I love you, I’m always here… Even when I disappear.

Mama’s Sorry
“There’s a song in this collection that’s incredibly personal for me.
It’s called ‘Mama’s Sorry.’
And before you hear it, I want to share why I wrote it.”
“A few years ago, my family went through something devastating.
My sister lost her daughter — my niece — to addiction.
She was young, struggling, and fighting hard… but she didn’t make it.
And she left behind two little girls who are now growing up without their mom.”
“When I think about those girls, I often imagine what their mother would want to say if she could speak to them now.
Not excuses… just love and regret:
‘I’m sorry I wasn’t strong enough.
I’m sorry I couldn’t stay.
But I loved you more than anything.’”
“That’s the voice I wrote this song from — my niece reaching out to her daughters from the other side.”
“And at the end of the day, I wrote ‘Mama’s Sorry’ for them —
for those two little girls who deserved to hear their mother’s heart.”
“Thank you for listening.”
