Tom Bruggemann did not set out to write an album. He set out to process his life.
“I have been writing a lot of songs lately and almost every single one of them comes from real moments of my crazy life,” he says. “Heartbreak, loss, love, humor and trust me, plenty of mistakes.”
The earliest songs in the Heartfelt Lyrics catalog are some of the rawest. Tracks like “Never Enough for You” and “Water Heals What Love Broke” do not just hint at personal experience. They lay it bare.
“Never Enough for You” captures that specific kind of pain where you give everything to someone and it still is not enough. It is not angry. It is exhausted. And anyone who has been in a relationship where the goalposts kept moving will feel every word.
“Water Heals What Love Broke” takes a different approach. It is about finding peace after devastation. About letting nature and time do what willpower cannot. The production is softer, more spacious, giving the lyrics room to breathe.
These early songs established the foundation for everything that followed. They proved that Tom was not interested in writing generic love songs or chasing trends. He was interested in the truth, no matter how uncomfortable.
“Writing these songs has been extremely emotional and cathartic,” Tom admits. “And when you listen, I hope you do not just hear the songs. I hope you really feel something.”
From those first raw recordings to the polished catalog that exists today, the mission has never changed. Real stories. Real emotions. No filter.
