Back to Friends
[Verse 1]
We were rebels in ripped-up jeans,
Takin’ on the world with teenage dreams.
Midnight secrets, whispered truth,
Hearts wide open, bulletproof.
[Verse 2]
Then you reached for me one night,
Caught me off guard but it felt so right.
We crossed a line, no lookin’ back,
From just a spark to a heart attack.
[Verse 3]
But every high’s got a crash below,
And sometimes love just loses glow.
We tried to fight, we tried to stay…
But love had other plans that day.
[Chorus]
Love isn’t always fireworks and flame,
Sometimes it shifts and forgets your name.
We burned too fast, we hit the bend,
So we let go… but came back as friends.
No hard feelings, no big goodbyes,
Just traded the tears for clearer skies.
Still in my life, but not my bed—
Back to friends again… and that’s what’s ahead.
[Verse 4]
We screamed, we broke, we danced through pain,
Stubborn hearts in the pouring rain.
But deep down, we always knew,
The realest thing we had was me and you.
[Verse 5]
You let go of my hand one night,
Didn’t feel wrong, just lost the fight.
Now it’s different, but not the end,
You’re still my person — just not my man.
[Chorus]
Love isn’t always champagne and stars,
Sometimes it leaves behind a few scars.
We took our shot, we missed the win,
But we let go… and found us again.
Still in my phone, still in my laugh,
Still in the stories of our past.
No more pressure, just what’s true—
Back to friends again… and I’m cool with you.
[Bridge]
We still roll down that same old road,
But now it’s light, we dropped the load.
We lost the heat but not the grace,
Still side by side — just a different place.
[Final Chorus]
No more tears, no broken glass,
Just love that learned how not to crash.
We’re not lovers, but we’re not gone,
We’re the kind that just goes on.
Not every love is meant to last,
But some just circle and come back.
I’d rather have you in a different way—
Back to friends again… and that’s okay.

Back to Friends
It’s strange how life can bring someone full-circle.
We met as little kids in school — just classmates with no idea we’d ever cross paths again. Decades went by without a single connection, and then one day, as adults, our lives collided in a way neither of us expected. The reunion felt electric and familiar at the same time, like uncovering something life had buried for years.
As we reconnected, the old childhood warmth turned into something deeper. Love showed up fast and intense, and I wanted to be the place she could land after everything she had lived through. It felt like we were picking up a story that had waited decades just to be told.
But love doesn’t always protect two people from their own wounds. As time passed, the relationship grew heavy — not because we didn’t care, but because the past she carried and the weight we both lived through made it harder and harder to hold things together. When the marriage broke apart, it wasn’t quiet or simple. It was one of the hardest, most painful experiences of my life — the kind that shakes you for a long time before you can stand steady again.
Even after all of that, something unexpected remained: the foundation we had before romance ever entered the picture. Beneath the heartbreak was still the connection that started when we were five years old — the friendship that had always been there, untouched.
That’s where Back to Friends really comes from.
It’s about accepting that even when a love story breaks your heart, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t real. And it doesn’t mean the connection has to die. Some relationships aren’t meant to be romantic forever; they’re meant to settle into something quieter, steadier, and more honest.
We didn’t end the way we hoped.
But we didn’t lose each other either.
We just arrived at the version of us that can actually survive.
